Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why should I tint my vehicle’s windows?

Window tinting offers multiple benefits, including:

  • UV Protection: Blocks 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting your skin and preventing interior fading.

  • Heat Reduction: Ceramic Window Tint keeps your car cooler, reducing air conditioning use and improving comfort.

  • Privacy and Security: Enhances privacy by limiting visibility into your vehicle.

  • Glare Reduction: Minimizes sun glare for safer driving.

  • Aesthetics: Gives your vehicle a sleek, modern look.

2. What types of XPEL window films do you offer?

We proudly use XPEL PRIME window films, known for their quality and performance:

  • XPEL CS (Color Stable): A budget-friendly, dyed-based film offering excellent UV protection, privacy, and a neutral charcoal finish. It’s ideal for those seeking reliable performance at a lower cost.

  • XPEL XR Black (Ceramic): A premium nano-ceramic film with superior heat rejection (up to 88% infrared rejection), 99% UV protection, and a black finish. It’s perfect for maximum comfort in hot climates.
Both films are color-stable, won’t fade, and come with a lifetime transferable warranty.

3. How long does the window tinting process take?

  • Your vehicle will be ready for pick up the same day as your appointment.

4. Can you tint over factory tinted glass on trucks and SUVs?

Yes, you can apply aftermarket tint, like XPEL PRIME CS or XR Black, over factory tinted glass on trucks and SUVs. Factory tint, often a dyed layer in the glass, doesn’t interfere with our professional installation process. For best results, we recommend XPEL XR Black ceramic film to significantly improve heat rejection, as most factory tinted glass lack infrared (IR) blocking capabilities.

5. Why add aftermarket tint over factory tinted glass?

Factory tinted glass on trucks and SUVs provides privacy and some UV protection but typically lacks infrared (IR) heat rejection, meaning it doesn’t keep your vehicle cool in Missouri’s hot summers. Adding XPEL XR Black ceramic tint enhances your comfort by blocking up to 88% of IR heat, reducing cabin temperatures and reliance on air conditioning. It also boosts UV protection (99% blockage).

6. Does XPEL window tint have a warranty?

All automotive window tinting by New Visions comes with a free lifetime warranty for fading, cracking, and bubbling.

7. Will window tinting affect my visibility or electronics?
XPEL window films are engineered for clarity and compatibility:

  • Visibility: Both CS and XR Black maintain excellent outbound visibility, with XR Black offering enhanced clarity due to its nano-ceramic construction. However, darker shades (lower VLT) may slightly reduce nighttime visibility.

  • Electronics: Neither film contains metalized particles, so they won’t interfere with radio, cellular, Bluetooth, or GPS signals.

8. Is window tinting legal in Missouri, and how dark can I go?
Window tinting is legal in Missouri, but it must comply with specific Visible Light Transmission (VLT) regulations, which measure the percentage of light passing through the tinted window. Here’s a breakdown of Missouri’s tint laws for all vehicle types (sedans, SUVs, vans):

  • Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed only above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line (typically 4–6 inches from the top of the windshield). This “shade band” must not interfere with the driver’s view of the road. No aftermarket tint is permitted below the AS-1 line.

  • Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% VLT (a 3% variance is permitted, so 32% VLT is acceptable). This ensures sufficient visibility for safety.

  • Back Side Windows: Any darkness level is permitted, offering flexibility for privacy.

  • Rear Window: Any darkness level is permitted, but dual side mirrors are required if the rear window is tinted.

  • Reflectivity: All windows must not be more than 35% reflective to reduce glare for other drivers. Mirror-type or metallic films are prohibited.

We offer XPEL CS and XR Black films in various VLT shades (e.g., 5%, 15%, 35%) to meet Missouri’s legal requirements. We will help you choose a compliant tint that balances style, privacy, and performance. Always verify local regulations, as enforcement may vary by county, and contact us to ensure your tint complies with Missouri law.

9. How do I care for my tinted windows after installation?

To ensure your XPEL window tint cures properly:

  • Avoid rolling down windows for 2 days after installation to prevent peeling.

  • Bubbles or haziness may appear initially due to moisture but will disappear as the film dries (normally within days depending on the time of year and temperature).
Regular cleaning with gentle products will keep your tint looking pristine.

10. Can old tint be removed, and can I tint over existing aftermarket tint?

We do not tint over existing aftermarket tint. Tinting over existing aftermarket tint can cause the tint to bubble and peal in the future.. Old tint can be professionally removed. When the tint on a back glass starts to bubble we do not always offer removals. All removals need to be looked at in person for a quote and to verify if it is something we will offer removals on.

11. Why choose XPEL window films over other brands?

XPEL stands out for its advanced technology and performance:

  • Superior Heat Rejection: XR Black’s nano-ceramic technology blocks up to 88% of infrared heat, outperforming many competitors like 3M or LLumar in IR rejection.

  • UV Protection: Both CS and XR Black block 99% of UV rays, earning recommendations from the Skin Cancer Foundation.

  • Durability: Color-stable films resist fading, cracking, or turning purple, unlike cheaper window tint.

  • Warranty: A lifetime warranty ensures long-term satisfaction.
As a certified XPEL installer, we guarantee professional application for maximum benefits.
